Article 4: Key Phrase – online marketing

Online Marketing: How to Use Social Media to Bring Qualified Prospects to Your Website
The methods you use to promote yourself, your products, or your services will be the deciding factor in how successful your online business is. You may think you can achieve online success simply by having a great looking website, but that’s just not the case. Having a website is a necessity if you’re going to have an online business, but you can’t just put up a website and wait for customers to start flooding in to buy whatever it is you’re selling.

Once your website is built and is live on the internet, the next step is to decide what types of online marketing tools you’re going to use to build your website into a thriving online business.

The unfortunate part of online marketing is that there are tons of scams and schemes disguised as good methods to use to market your business online. There also lots of “free” online marketing methods which, in the end, aren’t really free at all.

However, there is one free online marketing method that’s not a scam and really is free. More importantly, it’s a method that’s incredibly effective at bringing “ready-to-buy” prospects to your website. The online marketing method I’m talking about is social media marketing.

Social media marketing is the latest in a constant stream of free online marketing methods to come along since the beginning of the 21st century. Online business owners all over the internet are using different types of this very effective online marketing method to make themselves tons of profit and there’s no reason you can’t be doing the same thing. You just need to know the correct way to use social media marketing so you don’t make costly mistakes in your online marketing efforts.

But before you can begin to correctly use social media to market your products and services online, you need to have a basic understanding of what social media is and how, when used correctly, it can help you build a huge following of customers and returning customers to your online business.

Social media marketing in its most basic form means interacting with your potential customers in a way that makes them feel drawn to you and to what it is you have to offer. This positive interaction isn’t achieved by selling something. A successful, positive interaction with your potential customers involves offering them information they can use to solve the problems that matter to them. To facilitate this positive interaction you can use any of the available social media websites available on the internet. The four most popular social media sites on the internet right now are Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and MySpace.

Setting up a profile on any or all of these sites is easy and is the first step you’ll need to take if you choose to use social media as one of your online marketing tools. Once you’ve set up your account and/or your profile, you can begin posting things on your page that people who might buy your product or service will be interested in knowing. The possibilities here are endless.

As you continue to post valuable (and free) information to your page, people will find your page, and if you’re targeting the right group of people for the product or service you offer, people will find your page and will want to follow you so they can continue to learn from you. You, and the information you have, will eventually become invaluable to them and they’ll begin to get to know you, like you, and trust you.

Once you’ve successfully gained the trust of your potential customers, you can then begin to offer them your products and services at a competitive rate and you’ll be well on your way to building a profitable online business.

6 Principles to Start a Online Home Business Effectively

If you are reading this article you are probably looking to start a online home business. And I congratulate you! Its going to allow you to get rid of that job you hate, spend time with your family, buy stuff you couldn’t afford before and allow you to call the shots in your life. One problem though…

Only about 5% of people make it in starting an online home business! Why So Little!?

In my experience of being a full time online marketer, it’s because they lack the basic principles to a solid foundation. And they get so focused on making money that they spend their whole budget fast with no results…

I don’t want you to go through that…

When you decided to leave your job and pursue your dreams to star a online home business, the last thing you want to have to do, is go back to your job with your tail in-between your legs…

So I’ve put together 6 Basic Principles you must follow to be able to have a good chance with your online home business… Now don’t let this be the “end all of end all’s”…These are just some of the most important I’ve seen in my own business:

1.) You have to have a lead capture page of some type that causes visitors to turn into prospects, like a fish net to catch fish. And the major points on there have to be mostly benefits to your prospects…NOT FEATURES! Also in today’s world there is so much BS. People put a higher trust if you put yourself on the line with a video explaining your offer to them and why they should trust you. There should also be an exchange of something, of value, that they get for entrusting you with their information.

2.) You must have a sales page that people are directed to after they opt-in for your free offer, that will sell them on your paid offer. This takes advantage of the 1 to 5% of people who are desperate for a solution and need help fast. Plus people who are not ready to buy get introduced to a product that can have huge value for them in the future.

3.) Your Funded Proposal, this is the product that you sell on your sales page. Usually it’s a product priced no higher than $39.95. I personally priced my first one at $29.95 and I did an “Exclusive Report” that was 67 pages. Just about any type of information product can be used to meet this step…My favorite right now is a series of video’s put together into one package.

4.)Dripping on people over time with your auto-responder. You do this to build relationships and trust by exposing them to more valuable information. You give them the best you have, don’t hold back! It’s a costly mistake that a lot of people make. I like to expose people to my blog posts, video’s, articles and where I spend the most time online. This allows them to satisfy their curiosity in finding out who I really am by actually seeing it.

5.)Continued education…Can’t emphasize how important this one is! You have to continue to learn from those who have gone before in the fields your trying to master and make a living in. Buy the courses, books, seminars and teleconferences. Always Be Learning because in turn your personal self worth will go up and people will be more attracted to what you have to offer.

6.)Join A Like Minded Community. If you’ve ever read Napoleon Hill’s Book Think & Grow Rich you know how important getting around other people who are like minded is. Join Forums or groups online that frequently talk about the troubles and successes you are going through and just add value to the group by being yourself. This one step has kept me from quitting when times got hard and initial set backs continued to come…Make sure you join a group or Forum right away!

These are the basics of how to start a online home business..

There is obviously a lot more to start a online home business. But most of it falls into these 6 Essential Steps. And this is also where you take control and make it a mission to learn more about your field. Don’t make excuses just take action everyday and the goals you are trying to reach will come to you.

What Do I Need to Do Before Starting an Online Home Business?

Internet marketing and online home business opportunities are often wrongly represented to the hungry masses of people who wish to make money online. The idea of making money overnight and becoming rich is more or less a fantasy, a dream. In reality starting up your own online home business should be no different to an offline business. Here are some practical requirements you may need to look at once you have decided that the online home business world is for you.

The Product

First of all you need a product or service to sell on the Internet. This does not necessarily mean you need to own or create the product, it would be just as good for you to be an Amazon affiliate and sell their products. Bottom line is you need to know what you want your online business to be about. You need to do some research on the product you wish to promote. Is it a profitable product? Is the product or service in demand? Is there much competition? Make sure you learn these facts before diving into a business you know nothing about.

The equipment

A computer, Internet connection and basic software are the minimal requirements for your online business. Although it may sound obvious there are still some tips to be noted.

Your computer will contain everything you need for your online home business so it would be advisable for you to have a copy of everything on an external hard drive. Sometimes having a laptop would be more beneficial as this allows you to work and check your emails anywhere.

You should have a reasonable speed internet connection as you may need to download or upload large files as well as video files. If you tend to move around a lot you may consider wireless broadband as your internet connection.

The software that you should acquire before starting an online home business would include: antivirus (you may receive a lot of spam email so this will come in handy), a spreadsheet program, a word processing program, WinZip (to compress or uncompress files) and Roboform (to save your personal details and passwords so you don’t have to enter it in all the time). The last one is optional but does come in handy.

The Communication

With an online home business your number one form of communication would be through your email account, MSN or Skype. The last 2 forms of communication can sometimes be difficult due to time differences between the different countries in the world so emailing is probably a more popular option. With you email account it is probably best you have at least 2 email accounts. One for signing up to programs, ezines, newsletters and membership sites. Unfortunately these can sometimes clog up your email accounts and it is therefore useful to have a second email in which you can use for the actual business. If you are planning to have a website, you may opt to have an email account through your own domain name (eg name @ yourdomain. com) for all your business liaising.

The Money

Although there are many claims from others making money online for free, it is probably more optimistic to think that there is no such thing as a free lunch. If you start online with this prebuilt idea in mind then it would be hard for you do succeed and properly run your online home business. If budget is tight you can always start off with a small investment. Maybe you can sacrifice $1200 for the first year. Does this sound like a lot? Not if you break it down to $100/month or $25/week or $5/day excluding the weekends. That’s just cup of coffee you can give up on! Compare this to a franchise that would cost you at least 200k to set up.

In addition make sure you have access to a credit card and open a PayPal or Alertpay account. PayPal and Alertpay are online payment processors. They are free to use when you wish to buy items online. If you are planning to have an ecommerce website then there would be some merchant fees involved.

The Legalities

Next is the nitty gritty stuff of making sure you don’t break any rules. Consult an Internet lawyer if you are unsure of anything such as copyright laws, licensing, contracts and regulations in your country etc. You also need to think up a great business name and get your business registered. This is the time also to think up a great domain name and register your own domain if you are thinking of having your own website.

Once you have consulted all these aspects, give yourself a pat on the back and relax. You’ve already done most of the hard work. You can now start building your online home business empire and reach for success.
